Professional Development

Professional Development

imageProfessional Development for classroom teachers and teaching artists is crucial to sustaining a cultural organization and school partnership. eba has developed several working models for sharing our creative process work, opening the door to peer professional development, and a process which is ongoing, trust building, reflective, and very important to both the seasoned teacher/TA and the novice.

"I have fond memories of eba. It made school exciting. [We] were talking about how it stretched us and made us better teachers. Thanks for everything! Keep fighting for the arts (I know you will!). Life would be empty without them". Capital Region Educator

The purpose of all eba professional development workshops is to help professional teachers and teaching artists understand and celebrate their unique strengths by learning how to share them with others and receive feedback on the learning that takes place, to further strengthen their capacity and build their confidence.

Workshops can include: using creative process in the classroom, integrating curriculum, peer professional development, multiple intelligence and right/left brain learning through creative arts processes, and collaboration.

Goals include:

Develop criteria for internal and business professional development to meet partner’s needs.

Develop a reflection model and ways to use it.

Develop an assessment tool to determine value of work.

Participants will understand:

How to ask the important questions before you get going.

The value of internal professional development.

Participants will be able to:

Design an internal Professional Development model for their project.

Conduct a professional development workshop based on their unique work and best practices.

Help other team members develop a professional development workshop based on their unique work and best practices.

Assessment is immediate for both the presenter and the learner in aural style and in written form.
